State & Local Government ch.1-2
In these chapters we learned a little bit about the three major branches in the United States. The united states is composed of three different branches of a law and order system. Whom all work at the same time and work towards the same goal of making the united states the best it can be. First and foremost, we have the Federal laws who apply to everyone in the united states. These federal laws are then funded by sources such as and not limited to income tax, payroll taxes and some corporate taxes. The federal government then is supposed to make laws that have to do with national security and defense, immigration and even the environment. Alongside the federal we also have the state government. The state then makes laws that apply to the residents of that state and even visitors. In order for the state to be able to do that they like the federal government taxes its people with taxes like property and sales taxes, but with some help of the big brother. The state then being in charge of the police and ambulance/ emergency services. Also having to deal with public transportations, roads, prisons and even housing. The local council then only applies to the people residing within their jurisdiction. The local council like the state gets their funding from local property owners, and has help from bother state and federal government. With this funding they are then put in charge of local roads, local planning, trash pick ups, water and sewage.
